The Wellington Diwali festival is back again this year for everyone to enjoy a slice of Indian culture.

Wellingtonians now have the chance to be a part of the festival of lights at the TSB Arena and Shed 6 on Sunday, 29 October from 2 pm to 8:30 pm, organised by the Communities Action Trust NZ (CATNZ), in association with the Wellington City Council.

Wellington Diwali is also looking for performers to bring their vibrant energy to the event and showcase their talents to make the evening truly memorable for the over 20,000 visitors the festival attracts. The deadline for performers to submit their application of interest is Friday, September 8, 2023. Visitors are sure to be in for a treat with a variety of traditional, contemporary, folk, and fusion performances from regional and national performers.

The event wouldn’t be complete without retail stalls selling everything from jewellery to clothes for Wellingtonians to take a piece of Diwali home. Applications for the retail stalls close on Friday, September 1, 2023.

The focus for this year’s Diwali festival is to make contributions to social and cultural inclusion, social cohesion, and celebrating ethnic diversity, and the Wellington Diwali festival is just as good an occasion to showcase the city’s cultural diversity, as any other.

Finally, depending on the weather conditions, the spectacular event replete with music, dance, and children’s activities will end with a fireworks showcase to truly mark the victory of light over darkness.
