Overseas Friends of BJP New Zealand vice president Dev Bhardwaj has been invited to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony on Thursday in New Delhi, India.

On Thursday evening, May 30 around 8,000 guests will attend the oath-taking ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Rashtrapati Bhavan, which is the biggest event till now in Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The swearing-in ceremony that begins at 7 p.m. Indian time, and will include leaders of BIMSTEC member countries according to the Government of India's "Neighborhood First" policy.

OFBJP New Zealand, National Vice President Dev Bhardwaj has visited New Delhi to attend the function with over 100 non-resident Indians (NRIs) who are also there from different parts of the world to witness the oath-taking ceremony of the Prime Minister.

"I take pride in taking this opportunity to be present for the oath-taking ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi, and I thank BJP for this invite," Mr Bhardwaj told The Indian Weekender.

In addition to world leaders, chief ministers of many states, party leaders and members of the opposition, diplomats, ambassadors and eminent personalities will also be present in the programme.

"This will be the biggest event in the Rashtrapati Bhavan, and 8000 people are coming in for the swearing-in ceremony which was last held in 2014, and 5000 people were invited then," President of India's Press Secretary Ashok Malik has said.

Vijay Chauthaiwale, in-charge of BJP's Foreign Affairs cell said that more than 100 NRIs are coming to take part in the swearing ceremony at their own expense. Mr Chauthaiwale said that many NRIs were included during the Prime Minister's election campaign.

"Thousands of NRIs were involved in campaigning in one way or another, many of them worked hard in their respective countries. About 600-700 NRI actually came here and stayed for 2-4 weeks during the campaign," Mr Chaithaiwale said.
