A never seen before Indian music concert is planned on Friday, August 7 that will revive the local music industry in the post-Covid New Zealand and offer different genres of music for diverse sets of audience.
‘Ye Shaam Aapke Naam’, a music concert by showbiz veteran and now realtor Tanya Mehra has promised the community to witness a show that Aucklanders have never seen before.
Presenter of the show Tanya Mehra has been in the show business since 2008 hosting concerts, beauty pageants, and stage shows for local artists here. She is making a comeback into the showbiz while making waves as a real estate agent with Harveys in Papatoetoe.
The show is being organised and managed by Flair ‘n Fun, an event management group that has hosted several concerts in the last few years getting world-renowned artists from overseas to New Zealand.
FNF has successfully organised entertainment events for the last 30 years with its birth in 1987 in Pakistan by founder Mukhtiar Surhio and is currently run by and managed by his son Ali Surhio in Auckland.
FNF had organised three concerts in Auckland and Wellington for Pakistani pop and classical singer Sajjan Ali in 2018, Family Gala Night featuring Shakeel Siddiqui and Naeem Abbas Rufi the same year and BBC World Music Awards winner Saieen Zahoor in Auckland earlier this year.
The hosts say that this concert has multiple goals- first providing a full-fledged and much-awaited music concert for the community for 2020, especially after several levels of Covid lockdowns in the country.
The second purpose is to revive the local music industry- the singers, musicians, vendors, event centres, and give them a chance to perform once again as the industry has been stagnant since early this year due to Covid-19.
The third and most important goal of this event is to entertain the community, music lovers, who for long have not been to the cinemas or live music concerts as such from the beginning of this year.
“We are going to have songs in Punjabi, Hindi, retro, contemporary and popular Hindi, Sufi, and some Telugu as well. We also hand stand-up comedy on the stage,” Ali Surhio from Flair’n Fun said.
The hosts are expecting over 200 people at the concert- that includes general admission and some VIP tables that come with buffet dinner.
“Our general tickets are almost 60% sold out, and so are the VIP tickets for the event. We encourage people to buy tickets and come to the show as this not just provides entertainment for all, but also supports local talents, local vendors and the community overall,” presenter of the show, Tanya Mehra said.
