The office of the Honorary Consulate of Georgia in New Zealand hosted a welcome dinner last week for the newly-appointed Ambassador of Georgia to New Zealand (with residence in Canberra), Beka Dvali.

The event at Harbour Society in Auckland on April 21, 2023 was organised by Kiwi-Indian Jagjit Singh, who is Honorary Consul of Georgia to New Zealand.

Ambassador was accompanied by his spouse Mrs Nino Lezhava and the Second Secretary of the Embassy of Georgia in charge of Consular Issues, Tamar Pakhuridze. Singh welcomed them and extended warm wishes to all the guests.

The evening was filled with delicious food and wine. Messages of working together for the mutual benefit of Georgia and New Zealand were exchanged throughout the evening.

Furthermore, Ambassador has expressed his deep gratitude and wrote on social media - “Met and conversed with Georgians in Auckland, New Zealand at welcome dinner hosted in our honour by Georgia’s Honorary Consul Jagjit Singh and spouse Reeta Arora. Happy to observe readiness by Georgian community to engage towards increasing Georgia’s links with Aotearoa."

Ambassador Beka Dvali is a career diplomat, having served as the Georgia’s first Ambassador to South Africa since 2012, and later replacing George Dolidze as Ambassador of Georgia to the Commonwealth of Australia and Pacific.

Jagjit Singh is an Auckland-based entrepreneur with business connections in the country located at the intersection of Eastern Europe and Western Asia. He was appointed as the first Honorary Consul of Georgia to New Zealand in July 2021.

Before abovementioned event, Ambassador Beka Dvali, who was visiting New Zealand for the first time after being appointed as the ambassador, visited the Office of the Honorary Consulate of Georgia to New Zealand located in Papatoetoe.

Regarding the visit, Mr Jagjit Singh noted “Thank you, Ambassador of Georgia to the Commonwealth of Australia, for your visit to the office of the Hon. Consulate of Georgia to NZ. It was a very productive meeting to work together to strengthen the relationship between the beautiful countries of Georgia and New Zealand."
