Alka Yagnik, the voice that echoed in every household in the 1990s mesmerised her fans once again in her second live-in-concert in New Zealand on Saturday, September 30.

Ms Yagnik was accompanied by legendary musician Shravan Rathod (of the Nadeem-Shravan duo), who together enthralled the audience at the concert at Bruce Masons Theatre in Takapuna, North Shore.

The almost full Bruce Masons Theatre on Saturday echoed with the most popular songs sung by Ms Yagnik.

The singer gave herself a grand entrance with the theme song from the film ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’.

The audience erupted into applaud and hoots with her angelical presence on the stage.

Of her most popular numbers, the singer sang Gali me Chand from Zakhm, ‘Kasam se’ from the Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla starrer ‘Qayamat se Qayamat Tak’,her personal favorite ‘Raah Me Unse’ from Ajay Devgn starrer Vijaypath, ‘Bole Chudiyaan’ and ‘Suraj Hua Madham’ from K3G, Baazigar from Baazigar, ‘Lal Dupatta’ from Mujhse Shaadi Karogi among others.

The singer has two National awards, seven Filmfare awards and several other music awards to her name and has sung over 2400 songs in her career spanning over 37 years.

Another attraction of the show was the cameo presence of the music director Shravan Rathod, the man who gave romantic music a new definition in the 1990s along with his partner Nadeem Shravan.

Speaking to The Indian Weekender, Mr Rathod expressed his excitement being in New Zealand and promised to make a comeback in Bollywood.

“I am planning to make a comeback in the industry very soon with my own composition of songs and as a music director,” Mr Shravan told The Indian Weekender.

The two star-attractions of the night Ms Yagnik and Mr Kumar performed a duet of several of their hits together as a singer and music director from the late 90s and early 2000s.

Another singer who made his mark at the audience’s heart besides Ms Yagnik and Mr Kumar was a singer from India Kaushik Rao Chowdhury. He performed a solo at the start of the event and then medley with Alka Yagnik before she concluded the concert with her song ‘Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna’ from the same film.
