The famous World Buskers Festival, which celebrated its 25th anniversary this year, will be called Bread and Circus – World Buskers Festival, this year. It will run from 10 January – 3 February 2019.

“The festival kicks off with an intensive 10-day programme full of exciting free events, exceptional ticketed shows, large-scale spectacle and world-famous busking pitches. The ticketed programme and festival hub will then extend into February,” announced Christchurch NZ last week.

“In celebration of its history, Bread & Circus builds upon Christchurch’s much-loved World Buskers Festival, amplifying it with world-class twists and turns.

Accessible street acts will maintain the heart of the old festival, with the addition of immersive and top-of-the-line performances from local, national and international talent propelling the festival and the city onto the world stage.”

Notably, 2018’s festival saw 55 performers from 14 countries, with headliners including local hero Tape Face (Sam Wills) who made it through to the final of America’s Got Talent in 2016.
